What better way to celebrate summer with an outdoor community bouldering trip!
Join us for an epic community day out exploring the lush limestone at the Waitomo bouldering field. If you’ve been to one of our previous outdoor bouldering days, you already know the vibes — relaxed, social, and seriously fun.
Suitable for all ages and ability levels, there’s something for everybody! We will have two of Northern Rocks coaches at the event to help you with beta, finding the boulders, and getting started if you’re new to outdoor bouldering.

Meet at 10:00am at the general store in the Waitomo township, and then follow us to the bouldering field.
It can be hard to find, so we’re meeting at the store first!
This is a voluntary community meet-up at an outdoor boulder field – fill up your car with your friends and meet there. All climbers are responsible for themselves.
What to bring:
Chalk & chalk bag
Climbing shoes
Brush
Comfortable climbing clothes
Food for the day
Lots of water (at least 2L)
Backpack
Sunscreen
Hat
Rain gear
Warm jacket
Comfortable shoes to walk in
Boulder pads (we will supply a few)
Foldable chairs or inflatable couches
Tarps or grounds sheets
Any personal medication
Camera
Plenty of excitement and big smiles!
